Getting involved in this blog
Let me guess: you have some work-related problems or questions that have been plaguing you for quite some time. Perhaps you have been thinking about how to improve your marketing, your driver pool, your safety, the value of your transportation services to the company–the mother ship. Amid the many processes and procedures of your workday, very little time is left to think outside the box, to get a fresh perspective or take the time to call your peers and ask for their tried-and-true ”best practices.”
This is precisely the reason for this blog–to give you an outlet to post your questions, your challenges, or anything that you can’t seem to find the time or resources to really dig into and solve. I have the time and the resources to search for answers. Since my full time job consists of writing articles for CCJ Magazine, that’s what I do–research and write. I would be glad to be your research assistant, free of charge, to help create content for this blog about private fleets. I also just finished a graduate degree in operations management, so I’d be happy to help you solve a logistical or analytical challenge as well.
The primary focus of this blog is to research how private fleets offer a competitive advantage over common carriers, including dedicated contract carriers. One of the most interesting aspects of private fleets is the fact that many provide backhauls at better rates with better service than their for-hire counterparts. I believe there are many opportunities for private fleets to leverage their backhaul advantage, while meeting their corporate goals for service, utilization and cost.
So, with this in mind, please post a comment to any article on this blog to begin a conversation with me, and put me to work finding the answers as your personal, unpaid, research assistant. You won’t be disappointed.
